Nasinu under-16 girls coach Jalindar Singh says player development remains the team’s top priority despite a convincing 7-1 victory over Lami in the Fiji FA Girls Under-16 League at the Fiji FA Grounds in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

Singh praised his players’ effort, saying the result reflected their commitment despite limited opportunities to train together.

“The girls did well today (yesterday). We’re still developing them, and they’re working hard,” Singh said.

He said the team faces challenges with regular training because many of the players are committed to school programmes and have limited access to training grounds.

“We don’t have much ground space, and most of the girls are training with their schools.

“I usually gather them during game time whenever we can.”

He said education remains the priority, with football fitting around the players’ academic commitments.

“School comes first. If they have schoolwork, we let them focus on that. When they’re free, we bring them together and continue training.”

While pleased with the win, Singh said the coaching staff is placing greater importance on the long-term development of the players rather than results.

“We’re just developing them and letting them enjoy the game,” he said. “Winning is great, but the main thing is that they’re enjoying their football.”

Looking ahead, Singh said there is still plenty to improve as the competition progresses.

“We need to improve our ball work, passing, receiving and overall game awareness,” he said.

Nasinu’s commanding victory gives the side a boost to its Fiji FA Girls U16 League campaign, with the coaching staff determined to continue building the players’ skills and confidence throughout the season.
