NAQARANI secured a hard-fought 22-19 victory over Marist Reds in the Suva Rugby Union Escott Shield competition yesterday at Bidesi Park in Suva.

Based in Kinoya Koro, the club continues to serve as an important pathway for young players from the village and surrounding communities to pursue their rugby ambitions and showcase their talent.

Captain Apimeleki Ralebato Daulevuka commended his teammates for their determination and resilience in grinding out a crucial win.

“I want to thank the boys for their resilience and courage on the field to secure this hard-fought victory,” he said.

“Although we played well, there is still plenty for us to improve on, particularly in our set-pieces and the performance of our forwards.”

Despite the positive result, Daulevuka acknowledged that preparation remains one of the team’s biggest challenges.

With several players balancing full-time jobs, it has often been difficult for the squad to train together consistently.

However, the captain said the team remains committed to overcoming those obstacles and is determined to continue producing strong performances throughout the competition.

The victory provides a timely boost for Naqarani as they look to build momentum and strengthen their position in the Escott Shield campaign.
