NARBONNE rugby club in the French Pro D2 competition is expecting Api Naqaliva to boost the club after returning from Fiji.
The Naitasiri man recently suffered the loss of his youngest child.
His manager and coach, Jacques Delmas, told Rugby rama, that the Pro D2 club knew his qualities and everything he could bring to the team.
Naqaliva suffered the devastating loss of a child earlier this month and visited Fiji to observe a period of mourning.
Delmas said the former student of Muaira District School in Naitasiri, who stands at 1.84m tall and weighing 104kg is close to returning to Aude.
“He’s arriving at the end of the week,” the coach confided on Thursday.
“We’re eager to see him again because he’s a great guy. And we know perfectly well that, when we play 5-3, he can also cover the flanker position. He’s a real asset.
“Unfortunately, he had a tragedy in his family. We respected all of that, the club helped him as much as possible. We haven’t put it behind us, but I hope he’ll have regained his energy, his desire, his game. We’ll keep our fingers crossed so that we’ll have him back soon.”
In 2014, Naqaliva helped the Fiji Sevens team win the Gold Coast Sevens. He previously played for Bordeaux and was also played contract rugby in Sri Lanka.
