NEWLY-appointed Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua is ready to take up the mantle, even as challenges continue to plague the Fiji Police Force.
He told the media it was day one of their work and he was expected to get full briefings from the police next week.
Mr Naivalurua said this would give him time to fully assess the current situation as well as the high-profile issues affecting the sector.
He is also expected to meet with incoming Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu.
Once all this is done, Mr Naivalurua said he would be in a better position to assess and map a proper way forward by comparing the past, present and recognising future needs.
