Apenisa Naevo, son of former Flying Fijian lock Apisai Naevo and brother of late Fiji under-20 player Ratu Pasikali Naevo has landed himself a three-year rugby scholarship at Wesley College in New Zealand.
Naevo, who was a Year 12 student at Natabua High School left for New Zealand yesterday to join his cousin, Viliame Saukuru who is a member of Wesley College’s U18 rugby team.
Natabua High School Principal Virendra Sharma said Naevo’s goals include becoming a member of Pukekohe Rugby Club, which his father was a member of.
“He also hopes to eventually have a professional rugby career and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” he said.
Sharma added that Naevo who joined the school this year was part of the school’s U18 team as well.
“Looking at his attitude, I think he will go a long way with the hopes of keeping the legacy of his late brother and father alive and also emulating what his father has achieved in his rugby career.”
He said the school was confident that Naevo would go a long way in his rugby journey.
