INTERNATIONAL School Nadi made a stunning start to the Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Basketball competition with a commanding 39-22 victory over defending champions Marist Brothers High School at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday.
From tip off, the Jetsetters dominated every aspect of the game, displaying confidence and composure that made them look right at home on the court.
Team captain Maravu Dunn credited their success to the rigorous preparation and hard work led by their coaches.
“We had a great game against Marist—our defense was solid, passing was sharp, and communication on the court was excellent. We thank our coaches for all the preparation they put in,” Dunn said.
Since joining the local secondary school basketball competition three years ago, International School Nadi has consistently reached the quarter-finals.
This victory over Marist keeps them firmly on track toward their goal of advancing further this year.
“We’ve always made it to the quarterfinals, but this time we aim to go beyond that,” Dunn explained.
While the immediate goal is to break past the quarters, with continued improvement and determination, the Jetsetters have the potential to go all the way and claim the national U17 title.
