THE McDonald’s Nadi Under-20 delivered a ruthless attacking display to overpower Kadavu Rugby Under-20, 55-10 at King Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.
The Nadi side wasted little time asserting their authority, crossing for the opening try in the 11th minute to take a 7-0 lead.
The hosts doubled their advantage four minutes later when tighthead prop Semesa Tuivunilagi powered over for a well-worked try.
First five-eighth Senivalati Senileba added the conversion to extend the lead to 14-0.
The match took a dramatic turn in the 25th minute when Nadi lock Lasarusa Luma received a red card for a dangerous tackle, while Kadavu halfback Inia Mulevoro was shown a yellow card in the same incident.
Despite being reduced to 14 men, Nadi continued to dominate proceedings. Second five-eighth Iveri Momo crossed for another try shortly afterwards, with Senileba converting to make it 21-0.
Blindside wing Kavekini Tubuilea then added another five-pointer in the 36th minute, although the conversion attempt drifted wide.
Nadi continued to pile on the pressure and headed into halftime with a commanding 31-0 advantage.
The second half began in perfect fashion for the home side as hooker Sikeli Cawe crossed just 40 seconds after the restart to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Openside flanker Kamenieli Rasaku added another converted try in the 50th minute, stretching the margin to 43-0.
Nadi’s relentless attack continued in the 64th minute when centre Erami Bokoi dotted down before fullback Iliesa Nukuse converted to make it 50-0.
Kadavu finally got on the scoreboard in the 70th minute through a penalty goal from first five-eighth Saula Koroiboila, reducing the deficit to 50-3.
Nadi lock Pita Ratuloco crossed in the 76th minute for the hosts’ final try to take the score to 55-3.
Kadavu showed determination until the final whistle, scoring a converted try in the dying moments to add another seven points to the scoreboard.
However, it was Nadi who produced an outstanding all-round performance to secure a convincing 55-10 victory in front of their home supporters.
