MUNIF Builders Nadi are the new Dayals Sawmillers Muslim IDC champions after edging Millenium Rentals Drasa 1-0 in the grand final at 4R Stadium, Govind Park.
Both sides were locked 0-0 at halftime in a tightly contested match before Nadi broke the deadlock in the second spell. Drasa pushed hard for an equaliser but failed to find the back of the net.
There was drama in the secondary schools U17 final, where Nasinu defeated Kamil Muslim College on penalties. Tensions flared as Kamil players, unhappy with refereeing decisions, confronted match officials on the field.
Despite the intensity, Nasinu held their nerve to secure the title.
In the Masters final, North East beat Makoi 3-0, while Navua Veterans defeated Western Veterans 3-1 in the veterans grade.
Fiji Muslim League president Haji Ahmed thanked Allah for the successful completion of the tournament.
“First and foremost, we thank Allah SWT for giving us this wonderful opportunity to be here tonight,” he said.
“We are grateful for the good weather and a magnificent venue to conclude the tournament.
“The final was very exciting, and I congratulate the Drasa side.
“This is Drasa’s first appearance in a top division final since 1991, making it a special achievement after 35 years.
“I also thank the organising committee, executive members, and our sponsors for their hard work and continued support in making this tournament a success.”
