Nadi braces for West derby

NADI anticipates a tough challenge against arch rival Oceania Water/ KBL Lautoka Blues in the second round of the Vodafone Cup national league games this weekend.

Nadi soccer boss Navneeda Goundar said the Jetsetters needed to play smart in order to beat the Sugar City boys.

He said the Nadi players committed many errors in their win against Nadroga last week and needed to rectify their mistakes against the Lautoka boys.

“Lautoka will be stronger than Nadi because they have many star players in their side,” said Goundar.

“And we cannot repeat the mistakes we committed against Nadroga because we are up against a tough outfit.

“Lautoka played well against Ba and they will be coming here with the mission to win.”

Goundar said the strikers needed to lift their form after missing out many scoring opportunities last week.

“Our defence was good but out strike force let us down in that game luckily we won.”

“Therefore we really need to work on our forwards and to make use of the possessions they are given.”

Goundar said the side would miss the services of their midfielder Munit Singh because of sickness while Eliki Ravosai was also recovering from an injury.

“Its confirmed that Munit will not play against Lautoka and fingers cross Ravosai will recover in time.”

The game will be held at Prince Charles Park on Sunday.
