Nabua Maroons team manager Ilai Dauqito says their hard-earned win in the Suva Rugby FMF Escort Shield against Fire was a learning lesson for their players.

Nabua defeated the men in red 22-14 in the pouring rain at the Bidesi Grounds in Suva.

“We learnt a lot of lessons during this game, and it was a reality check that we need to improve on a lot of things,” he said.

The Broncos have only lost a single match so far in the competition.

“We have around nine games left so far.

“We had our first loss two weeks ago against the Police Blues.”

He also mentioned that there are handful of teenagers in the team, who were still getting used to the intensity of the competition.

“We have a few young players who we are trying to develop into becoming future of the club.

“Some of them had game-time today and we can say we are happy with the way they’re performing.”

He thanked all their Nabua fans for turning up to the Bidesi Grounds yesterday despite the weather conditions.

“Just wanted to thank all our fans for coming out to support the boys, it means a lot for them when they see their fans in their jersey colors.”

The Nabua will be facing the Covenant Brothers in their next match.
