EVER wonder why Fiji Bati rep Kevin Naiqama’s body is filled with tattoos consisting of verses from the Bible?
His latest took over six days and was done in Australia recently where he has a picture of the last supper tattooed on his lower back, going into Jerusalem City on his back and across his upper back is the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
On his chest are Bible verses taken from John 3:16 and Romans 10:9.
Yesterday, Naiqama, who flew into the country on Monday, revealed that it was to show his faith.
“It means a lot, I’m big on my faith and I try to carry that on the field, and where I work and when people identify me. I want them to identify me with my faith and know that I am a follower of Jesus and not ashamed. Its my identity,” Naiqama said.
After a long season where he was a little disappointed that his West Tigers team failed to make the semi-finals, Naiqama now anticipates a good New Year’s Day at home as he waits for the arrival of another Fiji Bati rep —— Kane Evans.
“It’s been good, obviously a long year sort of a bit disappointed we missed out on the last game to get in the semis but all in all for me it was a good year,” he said.
His first year with the Tigers, the Lomaiviti man said, had given him more confidence and as he pledged his allegiance with the Vodafone Fiji Bati for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, the younger brother of former Bati captain Wes Naiqama said “definitely pledged my alliance to Fiji to play for Fiji again, always an honour to play for my country and represent my mum and dad, the heritage and the people of Fiji, I like coming back here and I can’t wait to represent my country again.”
With that to be in October, Naiqama is now focused on pre-season and improving his game.
“Personally am just focusing on pre-season at the moment, just take it week by week but long term obviously I want to play in every game, keep myself as fit as I can and obviously just better myself and fix all the things that I need to fix from last season. Obviously there are some things that I want to work on to better my game and hopefully a better year than I did this year.”
He was yesterday in Suva City with Fiji Bati teammate Hamilton Hughes.
