Musa returns | Leadership shift reshapes Fijian Football

The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) ushered in a new leadership team today with the election of vice-presidents during its Congress at the Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

Aiyaz Musa emerged victorious in the Vice President West elections, securing 32 of the 49 votes cast, surpassing the required majority of 25 votes.

His competitors, Jitendra Kumar and Mun Sami Chetty, received 10 and seven votes respectively.

Musa, who previously held the position of Vice President, resigned in August, 2023 after a conviction.

He was allowed to participate in the elections following a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which stipulated that his official start in office would be delayed pending a final decision on his ongoing arbitration case.

Two other candidates, Nadi FA president Mohin Rafiq and Lautoka FA President Shalendra Prasad, withdrew before the voting.

In the Vice President South race, former Suva FA president Ritesh Pratap claimed victory with 26 votes.

Incumbent Jitendra Reddy garnered 20 votes, while Peter Cecil Singh of Rewa FA received three.

The vice-president women’s seat saw a change in leadership as Mere Veikata successfully unseated incumbent Susan Wise.

Meanwhile, in the vice-president North elections, Rayaz Khan of Labasa Football Association was elected unopposed by acclamation.

The election process was part of the Fiji FA Congress, drawing members from across the country to vote for the new vice presidents.
