THE family of the late Dr Isireli Biumaitotoya and angry friends rallied outside the Nadi Magistrates Court as police escorted into the court, a man accused of his brutal death.

Ratu Peceli Rosotokaicake Rokoravolo, 32, was under heavy police guard when he appeared before Magistrate Semi Babitu, who swiftly transferred the case to the High Court in Lautoka.

He is charged with one count of murder, alleged to have taken place between August 31 and September 1.

Ratu Peceli was given the option of seeking legal representation from the Legal Aid Commission or a private lawyer, but he declined and opted to represent himself.

Mr Babitu adjourned the case to September 24 and ordered Ratu Peceli remain in remand.

The popular general practitioner’s body was found in his home on September 1.
