A Vatuwaqa resident accused of murdering a 32-year-old manager on New Years’ Eve made his first appearance at the Suva Magistrates Court today.
Koroi Seru appeared before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad on a charge of murder.
Mr Seru is alleged to have murdered Javed Ali and has had his matter transferred to the High Court.
It is alleged that on New Years Eve, the victim, a 32-year-old manager, joined the suspect with six others in a drinking party.
Around 10.00am, on New Years Day, a fight erupted where the suspect assaulted the victim until he laid motionless on the floor.
Mr Seru has been remanded in custody and the case adjourned.
