UNTIL murder accused Apisai Madigibuli demonstrates a strong or new change in circumstances, the likelihood of being granted bail remains very low.

Justice Dane Tuiqereqere gave this reminder as he refused Mr Madigibuli’s fourth bail application in the High Court in Suva.

Mr Madigibuli is accused of brutally killing his pregnant wife, Kitiana Baravilala, at an apartment complex on April 25 last year.

According to his grounds for bail, he raised concerns about being infected with HIV and the spread of diseases, while also fearing inhaling gases from nearby factories.

He argued that the sharing of shaving blades was a factor in catching HIV from other remandees.

Justice Tuiqereqere ruled that he had not provided evidence to substantiate his claims and refused bail.

Mr Madigibuli has been further remanded in custody with the case adjourned to December 23.
