MSAF gives exclusive zones for filming of reality TV show

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) has granted exclusive zones in the Mamanuca Group for the filming of the reality television show Stranded on Honeymoon Island.

All ship owners, ship operators, seafarers and the public are advised to keep away from these exclusive areas that include Monu Riki Island, East side of Monu Island, East side of Tavua Island, Nautanivono Island North side of Malolo Island.

“A 24-hour exclusion zone is approved for the above locations to The Landing (Fiji) Pte Ltd,” states MSAF officer-in-charge, Sesoni Komaisoso in the public advisory.

“All ships are required to give wide berth of at least 1.5 nautical miles from the shores of the respective beaches/islands and avoid the above areas from 1st to 20th October 2023.

“This notice is not applicable to the Fiji Navy ships, maritime police, pilot ships, tug and other ships required to attend to undertake emergency response, or in case of ship emergencies requiring safe refuge at the respective islands.”

The Seven Network in Australia will air Stranded on Honeymoon Island in 2024.

In the reality TV series, couples are matched by experts at a ceremony before being marooned in the shallow waters of a deserted tropical island wearing nothing, but their wedding dress and suit and are left to survive.
