The Hibiscus Festival has been confirmed to take place on the second week of the Term 2 school break, from August 31st to September 7th.

Speaking at the media launch event this morning at Albert Park in Suva, carnival committee chair Opetaia Ravai says that there will only be one category of contestants which will be the Queen category.

“We just wanted to bring back the glamour of the previous years focusing on the Queen’s,” he said.

“Like in the last few years we’ve noticed that everybody forgot about the Queens they all thought about the other categories.

“So you know we just wanted to focus on the Queens this year,” he said.
