More than 100,000 people have lost theirjobs while the Fijian Government has suffered a loss of 50% in its revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama stated this while delivering Fiji’s National statement to the United Nations General Assembly.

“Our mission now is to recover the more than 100,000 jobs lost to the pandemic and to recoup a 50% loss in Government revenues,” said the Prime Minister.

PM Bainimarama is confident Fiji will soon have tourists on its shores.

“Soon, Fiji will reopen to tourism and to regional and international business. We will look to accelerate investment trends, like increased digitization, that will modernize our economy and help it recover,” he added.
