Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew has confirmed that Deputy Commissioner of Police Itendra Nair is nearing the end of his contract and has taken leave.
“His replacement will be announced in due course,” Mr Chew said.
He also said former assistant commissioner of police Surend Sami was no longer holding the post of Chief of Intelligence, Investigations and Prosecutions as his contract had ceased.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sakeo Raikaci has been appointed as Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police and takes over from the outgoing ACP Surend Sami.
Permanent secretary for Education, Heritage and Arts Dr Anjeela Jokhan tendered her resignation with effect from January 30, Public Service Commission (PSC) chair Luke Rokovada announced on Monday.
In a statement, Mr Rokovada said the deputy secretary for Education, Timoci Bure, had been appointed to act as PS with effect from January 23 when Dr Jokhan was on leave.
Dr Jokhan was appointed to her role in 2020.
Prior to taking up this role, she was the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment at the University of the South Pacific (USP).
