Tiki Vai tasted victory for the first time last Saturday in round five of the New World Suva Netball Associations’ club league.
The side defeated Grasshoppers 43-37 in the super grade.
Tiki Vai needed the win after losing four consecutive matches in previous weeks.
Team manager Rosene Laliqavoka said the win was timely as it boosted the morale of the players heading into the new week of competition.
“It was really important because starting the season we faced the top four competitive teams and we couldn’t make, always down by five points but we are planning to win all our next three games.
“I think it feels good to win. I know that if we had lost this game, the next one, the girls won’t have the hype for it because it will bring down their morale. They might think because we lost the last few games., we might as well lose the next one, so it was all about our mentality around that, so this win is a big boost for us.
“That was our first win of the season. It was a good game, the girls performed well compared to previous games. We have the super shot introduced now so it is more competitive. We are glad that we got that win today because we really needed it,” Laliqavoka stated.
Round six will be held on Saturday at the National Netball Centre in Suva.
