FIJI Baseball and Softball president Takao Mochida has plans for lifting baseball to a new level in Fiji next year.
“We have a lot in store in regards to baseball in Fiji next year,” Mochida said.
Mochida says the programs planned will begin as early as January.
“In the second week of January a famous former Japanese baseball player and now coach with the Japanese International Co-operation Agency will be coming to Fiji.”
The renowned coach who formerly worked and coached in Palau will be coming for a three day tour to provide basic skills sessions for current baseball players and future baseball enthusiasts.
Mochida said it was an initiative to continue building development for baseball in Fiji.
“Rugby is very developed in Fiji and baseball is still very small.
For sure in ten or fifteen years’ time, you can expect great results produced with baseball in Fiji.”
Mochida called on the Fijian people to support the steps the organization was taking to develop the game in the nation.
“We reach out to the Fijian people, all families and friends to support the baseball development programs.”
