Moana a pride and joy

The Pacifika Voice’s recording of the Moana Disney movies is a pride and joy for the Pacific culture that can be recognised internationally.

USP’s Head of Performing Arts, Igelese Ete said the achievement was on behalf of the Pacific people.

“Something I’m really proud of as a Pacific family. Obviously we have our great Fijian singers and two Solomon Islanders. We were able to create an impact on the world.

“Personally I feel very blessed and I wanna give God the praise for that,” he said.

He said it is amazing to work with the choir members.

“The talent is amazing. And the richness of what we have is amazing. I pay homage to our parents and grandparents and all those who supported us in arts. For us it’s creating avenues that we can eventually find income for all our singers, dancers and artists,” he said.

Ete said there were some challenges that they had been faced with.

“We have our challenges. Obviously financially and resources. We don’t have much as other countries. But what we can say we do make it up with our gifts, our talents and passion.

“But I take my hat off to our young people and our artists as it’s a challenge for them but we wanna take it to another level, at the end we can create income as a proper career for us here in the islands,” he said.

Ete encouraged the rest of the Pacific Islands to try the possibilities that are out there.

“If you want to be a world class or whatever you choose, you can do it. It will be difficult but nothing great comes easy,” he said.
