A Year 9 student from Sigatoka who lives temporarily in Suva with relatives in order to attend school here, got a shock when her bag disappeared from a bus on Monday afternoon the other week.
Her bag contained her clothes and school books and is of no use to the person who took it by mistake and should be returned to the nearest police post, as a report has been lodged.
I believe bus checkers should be held responsible as they should ensure that bags for a particular stop or destination are put together.
This student suspects this is the work of the wheelbarrow boys, who rush in and open the baggage storage area and begin unloading bags when the bus reaches the Suva bus stand.
Someone out there has a bag of clothes and school books that belongs to a Nadroga lass, and my humble appeal is for the culprit to do the right thing.
The bus company has offered monetary compensation but this should not be happening in the first place if a strict procedure of baggage control is in place.
