Update: 6:06PM A 21-YEAR-OLD female pilot student and an instructor from Pacific Flying School are still missing after their aircraft failed to maintain contact with ground staff in Nadi at mid-day today.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed police are continuing their
search with three teams on the ground headed by the Divisional Police Commander
North Verani Nakauyaca.
The aircraft had departed its Nadi base at 7:30am this morning for
Labasa. The plane disappeared between Labasa to Savusavu.
The teams are currently searching the areas of Suweni, Navakoro and
Delaikoro.
Volunteer First Responder (FIJI), a charitable Trust focused on pre-hospital
emergency response tweeted their rescue medics, the Police
Special Response Unit team and the Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue
Coordination Center and Fiji Navy’s search and rescue teams are now on
standby for deployment.
