The Ministry of Housing will be issuing 454 leases to people living in squatter settlements by the end of this year.
These will be 99-year leases, said Minister for Housing Maciu Nalumisa.
The recipients are 114 households in Cuvu community, more than 70 households in Ledrusasa, and around 270 households from the Waidamudamu informal settlements.
“We at the Ministry of Housing are not just planning, we are delivering,” said Mr Nalumisa.
“There are currently, four informal settlement upgrading projects that are under the construction phase.”
They are at Tavela in Nadi, Sakoca in Nasinu, Tore, and Field 4 in Lautoka.
“These four projects stand as testaments of real progress, real investment, and a real commitment to uplifting our informal communities.”
