About 50 employment-related grievances were received by the Employment Ministry during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister for Employment Parveen Bala Kumar highlighted this while addressing enumerators during the National Workplace Survey Enumerators Training.
“I must say employers are very co-operative and there were certain issues that were resolved by my team when they went out to look at the complaints,” Mr Kumar said.
“I must say there are a few employers who are taking advantage of this situation.
“If there is any breach, the workers are welcome to lodge their complaints with the ministry and we will definitely investigate all these complaints.”
Mr Kumar says the national survey, which begins this week, will allow Government to ascertain how many employees are on shift work, salary cut and reduced hours.
He added Fijian employees and employers needed to understand certain clauses in the Employment Relations Act.
The national survey starts on Wednesday, May 13 to June 19.
