PUBLIC service vehicle drivers should not have to risk their safety or livelihoods while carrying out their work, says Transport Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau.
“Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers provide an essential public transport service and should not have to put their lives and livelihoods at risk while doing their jobs.”
Ro Filipe said PSV drivers worked hard to earn a living while providing an essential service and should be able to do their jobs without fear.
He said he was concerned by the circumstances surrounding the recent incident in Nadi.
While respecting the ongoing police investigation, Ro Filipe called on members of the public to refrain from violence, intimidation and other criminal behaviour towards taxidrivers and other public transport providers.
Meanwhile, two more suspects are in custody as police continue their investigation into a viral video showing an aggravated robbery involving a taxidriver in Nadi.
Police confirmed the investigations were continuing to locate others who may have been involved in the alleged incident.
“The Western Division Taskforce continues to hunt for the fourth suspect whose identity is known to police,” they said.
Police had initially confirmed on Tuesday that a 23-year-old man had surrendered to police and was being questioned at the Lautoka Police Station.
