The team spending more time together for each match has significantly improved their combinations, according to Fiji Water Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne, as they prepare to face Ireland in their final Test of the Autumn Series.

Byrne expressed confidence in the squad selected for the match, noting that it is the best side chosen and that they are eager for the challenge ahead.

While Semi Radradra’s absence presents an opportunity for young Ponipate Loganimasi to showcase his skills, the return of Josua Tuisova and the impressive debut of Setareki Turagacoka against Spain add to the team’s depth.

Byrne emphasised the benefits of increased time spent together as a team, citing last year’s World Cup preparation as a prime example of its positive impact on their performance.

“Last year, leading into the World Cup, we saw the benefits of spending more time together as a team,” said Byrne.

“This week has been no different we’ve had a fast, sharp session, and the combinations are starting to gel.”

As they continue to bond and build chemistry, Byrne believes that their unity will be key in facing Ireland in this final November Test series.

Living in Fiji full-time has allowed Byrne to immerse himself in the culture and be embraced by the community, fostering a positive environment for both him and the team.

He highlighted the players’ natural talent and proficiency in skills such as off-loading, noting a growth in their breakdown prowess and recycling efficiency.

Byrne is confident in the team’s readiness and eagerness to compete at their best.

The Flying Fijians will face Ireland at 3.10 am at the Aviva Stadium tomorrow.
