THE Fiji National University plans to introduce MBBS program for nurses and have it rolled out in 2018.
This was confirmed by the university’s chancellor Ikbal Jannif early this week.
Mr Jannif said early this year, the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) introduced lateral entry to one of their most popular programs known as the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
“The program will allow nurses with diploma qualifications to upgrade their qualification by enrolling into the bachelor program through the lateral entry,” he said.
He said the college would also offer a new program in Master of Oral Surgery in 2018.
“The new program aims to train our health professionals to specialise in oral surgery to meet the needs of our country,” he said.
“Government has also allocated a total of $1.8 million to upgrade and renovate the dental clinic in Pasifika Campus.”
Mr Jannif said the College of Engineering, Science and Technology underwent an overhaul in the past months with all its programs being realigned to the new standard.
