With the Deans semi-finals kicking off today, I am quite pleased to note the level of skills and competence displayed by different schools from different provinces.
The overwhelming support of parents, former students, sponsors and well-wishers is just awesome.
The X-factor could be the involvement of some district and national reps who are there to guide the players.
It is a battle between Tailevu zone and the dominant Stallions.
This is extremely important to ensure that all moves and techniques are to perfection if a particular team is to lay their hands on any of the trophies.
I personally feel that the brigade from Levuka is the dark horse for the U18 grade.
Surprisingly, this atmosphere is never seen in secondary schools soccer.
The secondary schools IDC playoffs would be held at Ratu Cakobau Park soon.
We do not even see district and national reps assisting schools. Maybe rarely.
I hope the support and stiff level of competition would be massive.
Only time will tell as my own experience reveals a very poor turnout on tournament days.
May the best team win.
