Fijian international Masivesi Dakuwaqa has lost his contract with the French club, Biarritz after he bit his team-mate Pierre Pagès on a night out, requiring 20 stitches for the scrum-half.
In a statement released on Monday, Biarritz have confirmed that the former Toulon and Montpellier star has been sacked.
“Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque (BOPB) announces the immediate termination of Masivesi Dakuwaqa’s contract,” said the statement.
“Following the internal investigation conducted by the club, the facts alleged against Masivesi Dakuwaqa made it impossible for him to continue his engagement with the club.”
“It was mutually agreed to end his collaboration with the BOPB.”
“The BOPB wishes to reaffirm its commitment to the values of the club and will not make any further comment on this decision.”
30-year-old Dakuwaqa, who was a member of Fiji’s 2016 Olympic gold medal winning squad, is due to appear in court in May 2025.
