FIJIAN Drua CEO Mark Evans has confirmed that centre Iosefo Masi will remain with the side for the 2025 season, ending speculation about a potential overseas move.
Evans addressed the media yesterday, putting to rest rumours of the Swire Shipping marked man’s departure to France’s Top 14 club, Lyon.
Last month, Rugby Pass had reported that Masi was one of the players rumoured to join Lyon as a potential replacement for Fijian star Semi Radradra.
However, Evans dismissed the speculation.
“Don’t believe everything you read on social media. Masi is under contract with Drua, and he’s very happy here.
“When we announce the squad later this month, I guarantee you his name will be in the squad list,” Evans said.
Masi, 26, has rapidly become a key player for the Drua and the Flying Fijians. His rugby journey began with Fiji’s sevens team, where he played a crucial role in helping Fiji secure a Rugby World Cup Sevens victory and the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
His impressive transition to XVs has only elevated his standing, showcasing his skill and adaptability on the field.
In addition to his commitment to Drua, Masi’s continued presence is seen as a boost for Fijian rugby fans who value his unique play style and resilience.
With his confirmed place on the Drua squad, the team will look forward to harnessing his athleticism and experience as they prepare for another competitive season in Super Rugby.
