MARIST Brother’s High School (MBHS) has identified some of their potential athletes for the school zone and Coca-Cola Games.
The school held its annual inter-house at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.
MBHS head of department PEMAC Penaia Qalituraga said their main task was to identify the athletes.
“We are taking things one at a time and after the inter-house competition we will make plans for the zonal competition with the coaches and the team management,” Qalituraga said.
“We want to see the weakness and the strength of the athletes in the inter-house so we could push forward our training for the zone.
“The coaches and athletes had done very good preparation even though the weather had not been favourable towards us, but we managed to come up with a good performance.”
The school had some national athletics reps who ran for their teams.
The 2017 Pacific Mini Games gold medalist in 1500 metres event, Petero Veitaqomaki was a star for his new school after he left Sigatoka Methodist High School.
Another national rep Tony Lemeki was unstoppable in the senior boys 100 metres event.
“There were athletes who had a lot of potential in them to represent the school and the country in future,” he said.
“We want to develop our athletes so that they can become good and better in their performance for the future.
“We are not expecting much, but we want the athletes to do their best.”
