To commemorate its 90th anniversary, Punjas, in partnership with the Ministry of Forestry, planted 9000 mangrove seedlings at Wailoaloa Beach yesterday.
This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability and protecting Fiji’s coastline for future generations.
Managing director of Punjas Group Rajesh Punja emphasised that sustainability had always been part of how the company operates.
“As we mark 90 years, we wanted to do something meaningful that gives back to the land and people who have been part of the journey,” he said.
“Mangroves protect our shores and support life. It’s a small step, but one that carries a lot of heart.
“Sustainability has always been a part of how we operate.
“And this mangrove project is one way of showing that we’re committed to a greener future. This initiative means a lot to us.”
He said the Punjas family had always believed in building for the long term, whether through business or environmental stewardship.
“Planting these mangroves is a way of saying thank you to Fiji and of doing our part for the next generation.”
The planting was carried out by the staff members of Punjas, with technical support and coordination provided by the Ministry of Forestry. This initiative is one of several key events organised to mark 90 years of Punjas as a trusted brand of Fijian households.
