Police have charged a 28 year old man involved in the alleged sacrilege at the Samabula Shiv temple.
Police said he has been charged with one count of sacrilege and one count of throwing objects.
The suspect will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said it was necessary to seek medical evaluation on the suspect.
He added this was to ensure all processes with regards to upholding the rights of an arrested person were covered before an individual is charged and produced in court
COMPOL Tudravu also noted with concern the exchange of hateful rhetoric regarding the incident, and calls for tolerance.
Baseless speculation only aggravates the situation he said.
