Police have confirmed a case in what is believed to be drowning near the Mana Island Resort yesterday afternoon.
Divisional police commander West, Senior Superintendent of Police, Iakobo Vaisewa said the deceased was a 25-year-old diver of Tadruvi Village.
“He went spear fishing and was found floating in the sea at around 3pm today (yesterday),” he said.
The victim’s body was found floating in open waters between the Mana Island Resort and Tavua Village.
The national drowning death toll currently stands at 38 compared with 40 in 2022.
