A 40-year-old man will be produced in court today charged with the attempted murder of a police officer following a roadblock incident in Laqere.
In a statement, the Fiji Police Force said the accused was one of three men in a vehicle that allegedly drove directly into a roadblock manned by an officer.
Police confirmed the accused was discharged from the Colonial War Memorial Hospital on May 1 before being formally charged.
Following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, he has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, serious assault, and going equipped for theft or a property offence.
He is expected to appear at the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.
The other two suspects remain admitted in hospital, while the police officer involved remains in critical condition.
