The High Court in Suva will sentence a Lami man convicted of attempting to rape his four-year-old stepson today.
The offence took place during a period when the child’s mother was admitted to CWM Hospital, leaving the man as the child’s primary nighttime caregiver.
The incident occurred between September 29, 2025, and October 10 in Suva.
The victim’s grandmother stated that when she picked up the child on October 10, 2025, he cried out in pain, prompting him to immediately tell her what the man had done.
The man denied any sexual act, claiming the grandmother fabricated the story out of animosity to gain custody of the child.
