MORE jobs, more high-level shopping and eating experiences, more opportunities and increased economic activity are some of the things the Sugar City can look forward to when TappooCity Lautoka opens in March this year.
Mahendra Tappoo, executive director of the Tappoo Group of Companies, said once opened, the complex would herald a new era of shopping and entertainment for the entire Western Division.
“You will find that when TappooCity Lautoka opens, tourist numbers visiting Lautoka will increase very significantly for the benefit of the entire city,” he said.
“There will be massive job creation not only directly but also indirectly through services that other companies, groups and individuals will be providing as a result of the economic activity that the shopping mall will be generating.”
Mr Tappoo said he made the comments based on his experience with the opening of their flagship mall in Suva.
“TappooCity Lautoka, like TappooCity Suva, will give the total experience visitors look for when they leave their hotels and resorts for a day out to cities and towns.”
Lautoka City Council CEO Jone Nakauvadra said one of the biggest drawbacks for the Sugar City as a tourist destination was the lack of entertainment and shopping and eating options.
“We are looking forward to the opening of TappooCity because we believe it will take shopping, entertainment and food options in Lautoka to another level,” he said.
