Six years after it was closed down by Fiji Pine Ltd, the Fiji Forest Industries compound and jetty is now a proposed site for the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces Naval Division base in Vanua Levu.
Military engineers have been deployed to the site to begin renovation works on the quarters and clean the compound.
“For the moment, engineering from 2 COMBAT Squadron, Third Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment Golf Coy in LABASA and Naval personnel have begun with the initial phase on cleanup,” says a RFMF post.
