Ma’afu for Saints

FLYING Fijians hooker Campese Ma’afu will now feature for the Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership.

This dream of his has been made available after he signed a contract with the Saints allowing him to join the club with immediate effect.

The club website revealed director of rugby Jim Mallinder saying that Ma’afu would add cover in an important position.

The Flying Fijians loosehead prop has 39 caps and was also part of Fiji’s Rugby World Cup campaign last year.

“Campese will add to our experience in one of the most important positions on the field,” Mallinder said.

“He has played at the highest international level at two Rugby World Cups, and he will give us options, both for the rest of this season and in years to come. We were impressed by how he played in the world cup earlier in the season, especially against England at Twickenham.”

Ma’afu was a regular in the stands at Franklin’s Gardens when elder brother Salesi helped the Saints win the Aviva Premiership.
