QAMEA Resort and Spa on Qamea Island near Taveuni has been voted the World’s Best Luxury Dive Resort by global news network CNN.
Resort global sales manager Nina Holmes said the resort was awarded the recognition this week.
She said the award was timely for the resort while it took part in the 2016 Fijian Tourism Expo in Denarau where 149 international buyers from 19 countries gathered.
“This has been a good time for us because the expo has provided us an opportunity to announce to buyers and wholesalers that Qamea won the Top 5 Luxury Dive Resorts in the CNN International,” Ms Holmes said.
“We are the only one in the South Pacific. We were up against properties from Africa, Asia, Europe and even Australia.”
Ms Holmes added apart from offering guests some of the best diving experiences, the resort was focused on wellness spas.
“Our wholesalers say health and wellness is something guests are interested in,” she said.
