THE Land Transport Authority (LTA) has issued a warning to the public against dealing with people impersonating LTA officers who were promising delivery of Public Service Vehicle (PSV) permits.
CEO Naisa Tuinaceva issued the warning in the wake of a recent incident where a man was duped out of $16,000 after being promised a taxi permit.
The LTA head said people should be aware that the authority was not accepting, processing or attending to any requests for PSV permits because of a freeze since 2011.
Mr Tuinaceva said the LTA received more than four complaints a week from people who lost money to fake LTA officers.
“We know many people want a taxi permit and some gullible people jump at the opportunity when someone offers to get them one in exchange for cash but we are requesting people to refrain from doing so as the PSV permits like taxi and minibus have been frozen,” he said.
“Also, LTA does not perform any business transaction outside its office premises.
“Any transaction fee is to be paid at an official LTA office counter and the customer is requested to demand for receipts.”
