THE Land Transport Authority has cancelled the driver’s licence of the individual linked to vehicle following complaints and video footage alleging reckless driving behaviour.
LTA chief executive officer Irimaia Rokosawa said the Authority had initiated showcause proceedings after receiving complaints from members of the public.
“The individual was formally called in to respond to the concerns raised, in accordance with LTA’s regulatory processes for showcause,” he said.
“The Authority has cancelled the individual’s driver licence.”
He said the individual was no longer permitted to operate a motor vehicle on public roads and had been formally warned against driving again.
“The individual is no longer permitted to operate a motor vehicle on public roads, following the Authority’s decision to cancel the driver’s licence as part of its enforcement action.”
“The individual has also been formally warned to refrain from driving.”
“Should they be found operating a vehicle again, the matter will be referred to the Fiji Police Force for further action.”
Mr Rokosawa said the Authority remained committed to taking firm action against drivers whose behaviour posed a risk to public safety.
“Where credible reports and supporting evidence, including video footage, are received, the Authority assesses the matter and takes the necessary enforcement action in accordance with its regulatory powers.”
He added that LTA continued to work closely with the Fiji Police Force and other stakeholders through joint enforcement operations and public road safety awareness programs aimed at promoting responsible behaviour among all road users.
“To strengthen public safety efforts, LTA works closely with the Fiji Police Force and other key stakeholders through joint enforcement operations aimed at identifying and addressing unsafe road user behaviour.”
