“Yaca, long time no see!” These were the first words exchanged by National Union of Workers general secretary Felix Anthony and The Fiji Times journalist Felix Chaudhary, when they finally got to speak after four years.

The magistrate’s court had ordered they not contact each other after Mr Anthony was charged with “knowingly spreading false news” to The Fiji Times, relating to the expiry of Water Authority of Fiji’s workers’ contracts.

According to the charge, the information “tended to create or foster public anxiety”.

Mr Anthony was acquitted by the Suva Magistrate’s Court of charges under the Public Order Act after the Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew the charge.
