Preparations are progressing in Lomanikoro Village, Rewa, for the burial of former politician and diplomat Ratu Finau Mara at the chiefly burial grounds of Narusa this Friday.
Ratu Finau passed away at his home in Suva last week.
He is the eldest son of Fiji’s former prime minister and president, the late Tui Nayau Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, and the late Marama Na Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Lady Lala Mara.
According to a statement from the Mara family, a private thanksgiving service will be held at the Stella Maris Convent Chapel in Nasese before the funeral cortege proceeds to Lomanikoro Village.
Today, the women from Lau province led by his sister Adi Elenoa Mara presented their reguregu to the Marama Na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa.
Lau Provincial Council chairman Ilisoni Taoba said they had presented a whalestooth to Ro Teimumu on Tuesday as a token of appreciation for taking over the funeral rites of Ratu Finau.
Ratu Finau, 63, is survived by his wife Vitinia Buadromo and two children Adi Lawedua Mara and Ratu Salesi Kinikinilau Mara.
