Former national 7s men’s team playmaker and “Say No to Drugs” Police 7s skipper Livai Ikanikoda wants to play for Fiji again.
The 7s specialist playmaker who recently returned from Dubai with Apenisa Cakaubalavu said he still has what it takes to play for Fiji.
As Police focuses on defending its McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast Sevens title in Sigatoka next week, Ikanikoda has set plans to regain his place in the national team.
“Coming back from operations and going straight into training is tough,” he said.
“In terms of preparation, it has been hectic; we’re working around the clock to be in perfect shape come next week.
“The pressure has been enormous but the players are really giving their all during training.
“The challenge we face is starting late with our preparation because we all know what is expected from us.
“But with the experience and young players in the squad, I believe we can make it.”
He said he had set his target this year towards 7s competitions and hopefully to make it through to the national squad.
“I am ready to play for my country again.”
