FLYING Fijians winger Benito Masilevu is pleading with Fijians back home to work together and beat the COVID-19 virus, for two reasons; that the country may recover and that the borders will open to allow him to reunite with his family.

Speaking to this newspaper from Grenoble in France, the Navakativa flyer from, Wailevu, Cakaudrove said he and many other players were eagerly watching the situation back home.

“We need to work together on this and listen to the advice given by those who are in charge, as they know what is best for Fiji,” Masilevu said.

The push for him has a bigger meaning, as he longs to be reunited with his wife, Dicagi, and three children Angie, Mariana and Benito Jr.

“The last time we were together was in August 2019 and I miss them very much.

“We keep in touch through the telephone but I long to hold them again.”

Masilevu said Fijians were still taking the matter lightly and didn’t know how serious the virus was.

“Back home we are lucky that it is still on a smaller scale to what is happening on this side of the world.”

In France alone to date, there has been 5.7 million cases reported with over 104,000 deaths.

“Listen to the experts, protect yourself and your loved ones and don’t do anything to spread the virus more in our beautiful country.”
