Lion One Metals needs more land to construct a diversion drain, away from Sabeto river

In a week when Lion One Metals has been held responsible for the contamination of the Sabeto river, resulting in a prohibition order placed on the usage of the river, the company has applied for a new special site right with the Ministry of Mineral Resources.

In a public notice, the Director of Mines, Dr Apete Soro states the piece of land being applied for is 19.07 hectares in the Tikina of Sabeto, Vaturu and in the Province of Ba.

“This application is for the construction of diversion drain to cater for surface runoff connecting to Pigeon creek to main Sabeto River,” states Dr Soro.

“Objections against this application must be lodged with the Director of Mines before the lapse of time of thirty days from the date of publication.”

The publication date is May 19, 2025
