Some members of the FIJI Water Flying Fijians squad marched into camp in Nadi yesterday in preparation for the upcoming Test against the Wallabies in Newcastle, Australia.

The team is expected to depart for Australia today with their first training session poised for Saturday.

Captain Tevita Ikanivere said although time is limited, this short window gives them a chance to get things going.

“We’ve got a lot of experience, most of the boys from overseas just finished playing so we look forward to seeing them, gelling well together, getting our game knowledge and game plan in place so that come Sunday next week, we will be ready for the Wallabies,” he said.

The overseas-based players from Europe according to head coach Mick Byrne are expected to join the team three days before the Test.

This is not a worry for the captain.

“I know all the boys coming in are professionals, they have taken care of their body so we just have to learn our roles well tomorrow (yesterday) and Friday (today), hoping that come Saturday, we know our details we can build in through the week,” Ikanivere said.

The Flying Fijians will be missing the services of prop Luke Tagi.

Tagi has been ruled out due to injury sustained during a Top14 match for Bayonne.

He has been replaced by Fijian Drua prop Samuela Tawake.

Fiji will meet Australia next Sunday, 3.30pm at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle.

Six days after that, the Flying Fijians will host Scotland in its second Test match at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. The match will kick-off at 3pm.
